Device monitoring and on-device Gemma chat in one Android app.
I build the Android app and companion website independently, connecting device monitoring with local histories and on-device Gemma chat.
System overview
- Input
- Android readings, usage records and questions about the phone
- Processing
- Permission-aware monitoring, local histories and selected device context for LiteRT-LM
- Output
- Monitoring and history screens, plus chat with an on-device Gemma model
Android product
App screenshots include test-device and fresh emulator captures. The website image is a local browser capture. Displayed readings are examples; the captures do not map each screen to a specific 0.51-beta release.
System
Monitoring and chat data paths
| Subsystem | Implementation |
|---|---|
| Monitoring | Android sources vary by metric; permissions and coverage affect availability. Internet totals describe the tracked phone, not a home modem. |
| History | Room keeps recorded observations; a gap between samples remains unknown, not a zero reading. |
| Local chat | The user selects a compatible Gemma model downloaded separately from the APK; device-related questions can receive selected context. |
| User control | Model management and permissions stay separate from user-requested export or backup. |
| Companion website | The bilingual site explains the app and model setup in English and Indonesian. |
Model catalog access and downloads need a network connection. A compatible model can run inference on-device when ready. The chat does not automatically receive every monitoring history.
