Bringing a community rice dryer's monitoring and controls to the web.
I designed the web interface and configured the MQTT/server path between the application and dryer controller.
System overview
- Input
- Temperature, humidity, machine status and control requests
- Processing
- ESP8266 connectivity, MQTT messaging and server logic
- Output
- Web monitoring and requests sent toward the dryer; local controls remain available
I worked on the software path with hardware and electrical teammates, who built the machine and power system.

Controller and web communication
| Path | System behavior and my work |
|---|---|
| Device to web | MQTT and server logic carry temperature, humidity and machine status toward the application. My work: configured the MQTT/server path and integrated controller communication. |
| Web to device | The server routes control requests toward the dryer controller while local controls remain available. My work: coordinated the request path with the hardware and electrical teams. |
| Web interface | The later web interface used React and Vite for monitoring and control views. My work: designed the web interface. |
| Integration | The team checked incoming readings and outgoing control requests over Wi-Fi. My work: coordinated testing with the hardware and electrical teams. |
Integration status and lesson
We tested incoming readings and outgoing control requests over Wi-Fi. Residents could operate the dryer.
The integration depended on a shared understanding of each reading and control request across software, hardware and electrical work.
